After reviewing the feedback on your argument essay, identify one thing you did well and one area you need to improve. Explain what you will do differently the next time you write an AP Lang argument essay.

Prompt Response: One thing I did well in my essay was providing evidence and showing its significance. The thing I probably needed to work on most was time management, which would have allowed me to go in and fix said mistakes, but out of the mistakes it's self, repeating myself would be my biggest flaw to work on. Summary: Today in class we used a new app to work on a project to write our own poem. Reflection: From what I did do in class and outside of class on the assignment that we recieved, I learned how to really form a poem. Not just the words, but the detail, the emotion, the story, and how to work those things in to get my end goal across without directly putting it out there for the reader.

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response: A conversation that changed me wasn't nessesarily one I experienced myself, but overheard. It was from one of my friends parents in middle school, and it stuck with me since. That no matter how old, young, girl or boy, that you have a right to have a voice. That the idelology of someone being right because their an adult, or older than you, doesn't give them the authority to be disrespectful. I think that really changed me because I grew up with those exact words being told to me, but also being told to stand up for myself and my feelings no matter what or who it was. The two seemed to contradict each other all the time, so hearing that really set things into perspective for younger me and now. Summary: Today in class we took our annotated poem we got Monday and answered questions. Reflection: The most that I learned today was how to look and interpret a poem. Answering the questions allowed me to realize that going thought and putting notes, trying to actual...

Talk about a time when you had to write a poem, whether it was for an assignment, event, or special occasion. What was the writing process like for you, and were you proud of the finished product?

Prompt Response: When I moved to a new state and started at a new school, I felt really nervous and missed my old friends a lot. In English class, our teacher asked us to write a poem about a big change, so I wrote about trying to fit in and how it felt to be the new kid. It was hard to find the right words, but I described missing home, meeting new people, and hoping to make friends. When I finished my poem, I felt proud because it was honest, and when some classmates said they liked it, I started to feel a little more at home. Summary: Today in class we went over a poem, annotated, and learned different the process. Reflection: During todays class, I really got to learn how to analyze the things I never would have. Like in a poem, how that process works, ways to interpret one without difficulty.

How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt?

Prompt Response: Clustering made it easier for me to think of ideas and examples for the prompt. By putting my main idea in the middle and drawing lines to smaller ideas, I could see how everything was connected. The most helpful part was being able to organize my thoughts before I started writing. I would use clustering again because it helps me get started and makes my writing less stressful. Summary: Today in class, we learned about brainstorming tactics, specifically, clustering. Reflection:   Clustering is a form of brainstorming that I already knew about. Today’s lesson and class notes really showed me how effective it can be for organizing ideas and coming up with examples. I realized that clustering makes it easier to plan what I want to write, and now I see why I should use it more often when working on essays or assignments to get a full visual of everything going on in my head rather than trying to remember or just randomly jotting it down and connecting it later on...

Describe a time when you felt like you truly belonged. What created that feeling?

Prompt Response: The most recent time I felt like I truly belonged was when I joined Lakeside Theatre. When I first moved to Georgia in 2023, I had moved from the place I basically grew up(4 years old-13 years old). It was easy for me to make friends, but I never really felt like I 100% fitted in. Then summer of 2025, I moved to Atlanta and became zoned for Lakeisde. In the begining, I allowed myself to finally step out of my comfort zone and be the person I wanted to be, which worked out, but ultimately, auditioning for the school play, getting a big role and the opportunity to understudy a leading character, led to me finding my place and people where I felt truly completed. Summary: Today in class, we wrote our first argumentive essay of the year. Reflection: Today's class really made me feel the experience I would feel during the final AP exam. It allowed me to really get a real understanding of my writing in different forms, while also being able to think quickily and concise...

Select the vocabulary word from today that you think will be most useful to you in the future. Explain what the word means in your own words and describe a situation in which you could realistically use it.

Prompt:  The word I think will be most useful is metamorphosis. Metamorphosis means a big change from one thing to something very different, like when a caterpillar turns into a butterfly. I could use this word if I see someone go through a big change in life, like starting at a new school and becoming more confident, and say, “They really went through a metamorphosis this year!” Summary: Today in class, we did our second week of vocabulary, and activities to go along. Reflection:  I only previously knew about 2-3 of the words that we learned today. The writing sentences with these words really helped me gain an understanding outside of just the definition.

Think about the word or phrase you find yourself using the most right now. What is it, what does it mean, and why has it become part of your everyday vocabulary? Explain when you typically use it and what your choice of this word or phrase might reveal about you.

Prompt Response:  A word I have found myself saying a lot is "chez". I don't know where it came from, but I heard my friend say it once and i've said it since. To me it means yes, but in the language of cheese. This word choice has become a part of my everyday vocabulary because one says yes so often, but this is my way of it. I don't really know what it would reveal about me, but my friends say I weird and my brain works differently, so I guess that. Summary: In class today, we did our first week of vocabulary, and exercises to go along with it. Reflection:  I learned 10 new words out of the 15 we had to do. Along with that, I learned how to use the context of a situation to decide which term properly fits, it was a bit of a struggle at first because the words are so new to me, but it definitely helped my comprehension.
